E-mail Print PDF

Dear friends, The first Annual "Golden Gate" Chinese Martial Arts Championship, which was held on July 2-4, 2010, got off to a great start!

Athletes gathered from all over the Continental United States and from several countries to participate. The large Yerba Buena Ballroom at the Marriott Marquis in Downtown San Francisco featured a packed house buzzing with action and excitement.

Master Tat-Mau Wong put together a fantastic team of volunteers to insure that all rings were properly staffed and that the needs of competitors and judges alike were met.

Thank you! "Golden Gate" ICMAC Tournament

Multiple large rings featured exciting and nonstop action

Dear friends,

The first Annual "Golden Gate" Chinese Martial Arts Championship, which was held on July 2-4, 2010, got off to a great start!

The Opening Ceremonies begin as scheduled at 9:30am: The competitors were led into the competition area by 5 Lions. After the the Lion Dance and opening comments by the co-hosts the competition got underway at 10:00am sharp!

By late afternoon all the forms, weapons and Sport Sanda wrapped up and a break followed to prepare for the Masters Demonstration, which was exhilarating and featured many world-class masters; some were in their 80's, such as Grandmaster Poon Sing.

The competition resumed on Sunday with all Sparring, Push-Hands and Chi Sao events as competitors vied for top placement in their respective divisions.

The competition came to a close by 3:00pm.

A dinner was held at the Four Seas Chinese restaurant in Chinatown for all judges and VIPs with the compliments of the tournament hosts.

Plans are already underway for the 2011 tournament and based on the positive feedback obtained on site, and which we are receiving via email, we are confident that the tournament will continue to grow and soon become one of the most prestigious events on the ICMAC Worldwide Circuit.

We wish to extend our deepest gratitude to all the Special Guests, Judges, Competitors, volunteers and spectators who helped to make this event a success!

Sincerely,

Master Tat-Mau Wong and Master Nick Scrima
